Mekarzel and Al Shamsi sign an agreement for the issuance of the Governance Accreditation Certificate for law firms in the UAE.

In line with enhancing the skills and governance of law firms and companies in the UAE, we are pleased to announce a strategic agreement between the Head of the International Accreditation Certificates Department, represented by the International Excellence Foundation, headquartered in Florida (Pierre Mekarzel), and Counselor Zayed Saeed Al Shamsi, Chairman of the Emirates Lawyers and Legal Consultants Association in the UAE. This agreement launches the Good Governance Accreditation Certificate for law firms and companies in the UAE and the GCC countries, with issuance in 2025, marking the first of its kind globally.

The Good Governance Accreditation Certificate is granted to firms and companies that adhere to governance standards represented by a set of internal processes, including laws, policies, and structures that define how institutions are managed and organized in the context of law firms. It indicates the best practices for managing and directing these firms in a way that ensures achieving their goals in an organized, transparent manner, balancing the rights of stakeholders such as lawyers, clients, and investors, while complying with both local and international laws. Governance standards include independence, transparency, legal and ethical responsibility, risk management, strategic planning, accountability, compliance with laws, continuous training, diversity and inclusion, and internal controls.
