Contempt of Court – Article (35)

A. In addition to the penalties prescribed under the applicable legislation, a financial fine—determined by the courts in accordance with court rules—shall be imposed on any person who commits any of the following acts:

  1. Insulting the judge, registrar, judicial officer, member of the Small Claims Court, any witness, expert, translator, court employee, or any lawyer present in court, whether during or prior to the session.

  2. Intentionally disrupting court proceedings or misbehaving during a court session.

  3. Intentionally submitting forged evidence to the courts with the aim of obstructing the course of justice.

  4. Damaging or destroying court property, or the property of any of its judges or employees.

  5. Failing to comply with court rulings, decisions, or orders, or refusing to enforce them.

  6. Publicly insulting or defaming the courts, any of their judges, the registrar, judicial officer, member of the Small Claims Court, or any court employee—whether through social media, audio/visual or print media, or any form of information technology.

B. In addition to the financial fine referred to in Paragraph (A) of this Article, the courts may take any measures they deem necessary to ensure the proper administration of justice or refer the matter to the Public Prosecutor of the Emirate.
